A world-first SpongeBob interactive dark ride is coming to Las Vegas’s Circus Circus, with Sally Dark Rides behind the US$6m development

Sally Dark Rides is behind a new development that will see the launch of the world’s first ever interactive dark ride dedicated to the wildly-popular SpongeBob Square Pants IP.
Located at Circus Circus, a family resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride is an interactive attraction that will take visitors through the seafloor with vibrant sets, special effects, animatronics, and vivid integrated projections.
On the ride, guests in vehicles capable of seating up to five will be invited to try their luck at a collection of carnival games hosted by Mr. Krabs, while his arch-rival Plankton will hatch an evil plan to steal the secret ‘Krabby Patty’ formula.
“We’re thrilled to add the globally recognised characters of SpongeBob SquarePants to Circus Circus,” said Shana Gerety, senior vice president of operations at Circus Circus.
“Guests from all over the world will love how the over-the-top optimism and humour that SpongeBob SquarePants embodies is integrated in this exciting new attraction.”
The US$6m (€5.5m, £4.7m) investment will debut at Circus Circus’s Adventuredome indoor theme park this winter and will be the park’s first dark ride attraction.
This year also mark’s the theme park’s 30th anniversary, having opened to the public on August 23, 1993. It welcomes more than a million visitors annually and features a collection of 25 rides covering 20,000sq m (217,000sq ft).
