WATCH: A brief history of theme park management games

Did you know that Efteling and Legoland had their own videogames? Which was your favourite? This is a brief history of theme park management games.

Theme park management has become a staple of simulation videogames over the last three decades.

Dating back to 1993 with the debut of Coaster on MS-DOS, theme park fanatics have been given the opportunity to build their own rollercoasters, create their own unique parks and shape their own worlds.

In-between, favourites such as Theme Park and Rollercoaster Tycoon have stood out but as the years have gone by, these simulation games have evolved, becoming more and more advanced. Nowadays, titles such as Planet Coaster offer so many customisation options that almost anything is possible for the dedicated theme park builder.

But which is your favourite? How many have you played? Did you know that Efteling released its own videogame? This is the brief history of theme park management games.
