Universal Destinations and Experiences has revealed the themed lands for its upcoming Universal Kids Resort, ahead of the US park’s 2026 opening.
Located in Frisco, Texas, the under-construction resort has been designed specifically for families with young children.
Once open, the development will offer six themed lands inspired by beloved IPs from across Universal’s parent company Comcast’s portfolio, including Jurassic World, Minions, SpongeBob Square Pants, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Trolls, Shrek and Puss in Boots.
The park will be anchored by a central hub offering interactive play spaces and rest-and-relaxation lawns, as well as an immersive retail experience, where visitors can purchase themed merchandise and meet characters from Gabby’s Dollhouse.
Guests will enter Universal Kids Resort via the hub before being transported to locations including Bikini Bottom and Shrek’s swamp.

Visitors to the SpongeBob Square Pants-themed land will be able to explore the undersea city of Bikini Bottom, where they can earn their boating licenses and relax on the beach. Meanwhile, the Shrek-themed land will offer an immersive swamp-themed playground, which Universal says has been built by the ogre himself.
In the Puss in Boots-themed land, guests will find a kitten adoption drive in full swing and come face-to-face with characters including Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws and Perrito. The land will also offer rides, sideshow games, food and beverage outlets and a sensory garden.
Visitors will also experience a ‘joy-filled’ music festival in the Trolls-themed land, while they can “make daring discoveries” in the Jurassic World-themed area.
Finally, the Minions land promises a “wave of unpredictable, water-soaked fun” as the Minions, famously yellow, attempt to round up their mischievous purple counterparts.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together,” said Sarah Gibbon, VP and executive producer, Universal Creative.
“At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families.
“They’ll be able to do this while being immersed in some of their favourite stories – ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy.”

Completing the park line-up is a five-storey, 300-bedroom hotel, serving as the resort entrance, with guests entering via a breezeway beneath the building.
“At Universal Kids Resort, children will have the opportunity to play, sing, dance and discover with some of their favourite characters,” said Universal Kids Resort VP and general manager, Dan Cuffe.
“Beyond the highly engaging attractions and shows, families will find ample areas to rest and also enjoy themed food and beverages and shop for fun character souvenirs. Each of these areas elicits wonder with a lush, colourful environment.”
Universal Kids Resort is the latest in a series of developments for the theme park giant, with recent projects including the upcoming Epic Universe, resort in Orlando, Florida, as well as Horror Unleashed, a year-round thrill experience, in Las Vegas, US, and the announcement of a potential resort in the UK.
