The Malta National Aquarium is home to a brand new attraction, with Triotech supplying a new immersive experience that takes visitors on an underwater adventure for an encounter with some of the ocean’s most impressive creatures.

Called The Deep Explorer, Triotech’s Dynamic Explorer attraction can host groups of up to 20 people, who then go on a simulated descent deep below the surface. There they run into an unforeseen encounter with a giant squid, which disrupts the expedition and sends visitors on an unexpected adventure.

Designed to create an authentic and engaging experience that is both entertaining and educational, the attraction combines detailed theming with a motion system and special effects including smoke, strobe lights, trap doors, and dynamic lighting.

“The Deep Explorer at the Malta National Aquarium is more than an attraction. We're fostering a transformation in the realm of edutainment” said Gabi Salabi, managing director, projects at Triotech.

“The guests’ journey is one of emotion, edutainment, and surprise. It's a testament to Triotech's relentless pursuit of redefining what's possible in the world of immersive experiences.”

First opened in 2013, Malta’s National Aquarium is one of the country’s most popular attractions. Designed and built in the shape of a starfish, the aquarium is spread over a space of more than 20,000sq m (215,000sq ft), with The Deep Explorer its latest addition.

“This cutting-edge attraction aligns seamlessly with our mission to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for marine life,” said Malta National Aquarium’s director of sales and marketing, Mark Pace. “The collaboration with Triotech has resulted in an immersive journey that goes beyond entertainment, offering our visitors an enriching experience that fosters awareness and respect for the wonders of the ocean.”
