Missouri’s Silver Dollar City is set to invest US$500m (€466m, £397m) to expand the US theme park over the next decade.

The investment represents the largest in the park’s 65-year history, with plans including the development of the Silver Dollar City Resort with a hotel and the redevelopment of 1,200 acres of land adjacent to the attraction.

Construction on the Silver Dollar City Resort is already underway, with the hotel scheduled to open in late 2026.

It will be located close to the company’s extensive family attraction offering, including the White Water waterpark, Showboat dinner cruises, Silver Dollar City Campground and Pink Jeep Adventure Tours.

According to the park, guests staying at the 262-bedroom hotel will have "unparalleled access” to the attraction. The hotel will also offer views of the surrounding Ozark Mountains and nearby Table Rock Lake and will feature a full-service restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools and meeting space.

“This is more than just growth – it’s a new era. Over the next decade, we will mindfully transform 1,200 acres into an authentic, only-in-the-Ozarks destination starting with our first resort,” said Silver Dollar City Parks and Resorts president Brad Thomas.

“The new resort will combine Silver Dollar City’s spirit of playfulness, discovery, craftsmanship and exploration with all that makes The Heart of the Ozarks so special.”

Missouri governor Mike Parson added: “This investment showcases Silver Dollar City’s commitment to tourism and economic growth in the Ozarks and for the state of Missouri. This project will also bring thousands of new jobs and millions of new visitors to our great state.”

The news comes after the theme park unveiled plans to expand its entertainment offering for the 2025 season, with the new line-up including a drone-powered nighttime spectacular. Called ‘Night Sky’, the spectacle will combine fireworks with more than 100 choreographed drones to light up the night sky.

A Wild West-themed comedy stunt show has also been announced, as well as a new acrobatic circus experience and a host of festivals and seasonal activations, including An Old Time Christmas - a Christmas experience featuring a new stage production called “The Heart of Christmas.”
