The Park World Excellence Awards will return to Barcelona on 24 September, with the industry spectacle recognising the projects, people and suppliers shaping the attractions industry across the EMEA region.
Now in their seventh year, the awards have established themselves as a key industry benchmark for creativity, innovation and guest experience.
Categories cover the full breadth of the sector, from rollercoasters, dark rides and waterpark experiences to theming, product innovation, live entertainment and more. Entries were open to projects launched between July 2024 and July 2025, with submissions assessed by the judging panel.
This year’s shortlist reflects the scale of ambition across the region, with a plethora of major operators and emerging innovators alike represented among the finalists. Among the entries this year, Gold Rush at Drayton Manor is up for Best Rollercoaster, while Yas Waterworld is competing for the title of Best Waterpark. Also from Yas Island, SeaSub at SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is vying for the title of Best Ride, and Europa-Park is included in the finalists for Best Large Park. The awards also recognise broader achievements across the industry, with categories devoted to theming, guest experience, food and beverage, retail and green initiatives.
As part of a continued partnership between Planet Attractions and Park World, this year again sees Planet Attractions’ editor-in-chief Tom Anstey named as a member of the awards’ independent judging panel.
“It’s been fantastic to play a part in partnership with Park World on their annual Excellence Awards,” said Anstey. “These Awards are truly a standard setter when it comes to recognising industry achievement with the judging process going through a number of stages before reaching a final result to ensure the very best are acknowledged for their work.”
Since launching in 2018, the Park World Excellence Awards have grown into one of the most significant events in the calendar for the attractions sector. With the Barcelona ceremony approaching, anticipation is building to see which projects, people and suppliers will be recognised as leaders in their field - and where the bar for excellence will be set for the year ahead.
