Merlin Entertainments has partnered with Silvergate Media and Penguin Ventures to develop a new attraction based on the Peter Rabbit animated series.

Scheduled to open in Blackpool, UK, in 2022, the £1m (US$1.3m, €1.2m) attraction has been in development for more than 18 months.

The standalone experience will be located alongside six existing Merlin attractions on the Blackpool seafront, including Blackpool Tower, Madame Tussauds and Sea Life.

Inside the attraction, five immersive Peter Rabbit-themed zones will see visitors put their skills to the test by completing challenges and earning badges to see if they have what it takes to join the secret treehouse club. The attraction is completed with a meet and greet experience with Peter Rabbit himself.

“This new attraction will be another fabulous addition to Blackpool’s growing portfolio of world-class attractions aimed at the family market,” said Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council.

“The creation of a standalone experience featuring one of the world’s best-known children’s characters will provide another compelling reason to visit what we believe is the UK’s ultimate family resort.”
