The effects of Covid-19 continue to affect China, with IAAPA Expo Asia cancelled again as a result of the pandemic

IAAPA has announced the cancellation of IAAPA Expo Asia, with the event abandoned in response to the continued impact of COVID-19 in the region.
IAAPA held two major in-person events last year with the successful in-person return of both IAAPA Expo Europe in Barcelona, Spain, and IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida. Last year’s in-person IAAPA Expo Asia, however, was cancelled as a result of the global pandemic with the 2022 edition of the show being cancelled for the same reason.
Originally scheduled to take place in Hong Kong, China, this June, IAAPA’s president and CEO, Hal McEvoy, said that “continued travel and business restrictions” meant that there was no choice but to cancel the event.
“Providing an opportunity for our members to meet face-to-face, conduct business, and move our industry forward has always been a top priority for our association,” said McEvoy.
“Our team has been working tirelessly on this year’s Expo in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, the ongoing impact of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, and continued travel and business restrictions have reduced the feasibility of hosting a successful Expo in Asia in June. After careful consideration, and with significant input from members, exhibitors, the IAAPA Board of Directors and our team, we have decided it is best to cancel this year’s IAAPA Expo Asia.”
Following the event’s cancellation, IAAPA has said that it is developing alternative in-person events for its members to network in the APAC region in 2022 and that it would be shifting its focus “to creating an outstanding IAAPA Expo Asia 2023”.
Plans continue as scheduled for IAAPA Expo Europe, which will be held in London, UK, in September, and IAAPA Expo which returns to Orlando, Florida, US, in November.
