IAAPA Expo Asia 2025 experiences 40 percent surge in attendance

IAAPA Expo Asia 2025 welcomed more than 7,000 delegates to Shanghai – a 40% increase over the previous year

The four-day event featured a tradeshow, education programme, special all-day events and networking opportunities

IAAPA Expo Asia, the Asia-Pacific region’s premier event for the global attractions industry, made a triumphant return this week (June 30 - July 3), with this year’s event seeing a 40% increase in attendance compared to the previous year.

More than 7,000 attendees descended on the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SINEC) for the four-day expo.

Delegates included key industry leaders such as Disney Parks International MD Jill Estorino and Trip.com Group VP Cecilia Qin, alongside 5,651 buyers from 85 countries.

Beginning June 30, the event featured an extensive tradeshow, where 350 international companies showcased innovative products, services, and solutions on the 8,600 sq m (92,570 sq ft) show floor, as well as a comprehensive education programme, all-day special events and networking opportunities.

Offering more than 20 sessions, the education programme covered a diverse range of topics including: AI, live and social entertainment, storytelling, social media strategy, and health and safety, all linked by the event’s central theme – “Find Possible.”

Several ticketed EduTours rounded out the education offering, giving participants the opportunity to visit local attractions, including Shanghai Disney Resort and the upcoming Legoland Shanghai Resort.

A spectacular Opening Ceremony, billed as a “mesmerising theatrical ceremony,” served as a highlight of the show, with the production exploring themes from Chinese philosophy, taking the audience on an immersive journey through creativity, balance, and transformation.

“IAPPA Expo Asia 2025 delivered an impressive experience. As an association, we take great pride in creating spaces where people and ideas come together,” said IAAPA president and CEO Jakob Wahl.

“The connections made here in Shanghai – like those at all IAPPA events – are the foundations of lasting partnerships.

“Shanghai continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the attractions industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Hosting IAAPA Expo Asia 2025 here reinforces our commitment to supporting this dynamic market,” said Jack Chan, executive director and VP of IAAPA Asia-Pacific.

“Through the Expo, IAAPA brings together global expertise, local innovation, and unmatched opportunities for collaboration – strengthening the industry not just in China, but across the entire region.”

Plans are already underway for IAAPA Asia 2026, which will take place in Hong Kong, China between June 9 - 12, 2026. IAAPA Asia reports strong advance sales, with 206 companies having already reserved 5,382sq m (57,931sq ft) of exhibitor space.
