Holovis and Azimuth have teamed up with grand plans to develop an XR content creation and digital engineering team in Malaysia, making the country a hub for the Southeast Asia region in XR technology development

Malaysian technology company Azimuth International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British company Holovis to bring its cutting-edge XR (extended reality) technology to Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region.
Holovis - a market leader in immersive and multi-sensory XR solutions for industry, education and entertainment - has formed the new strategic partnership with Azimuth to set up an XR content creation and digital engineering team in Malaysia.
By 2026, Holovis says that it will commit to a Transfer of Knowledge and Transfer of Technology to the local workforce, making Malaysia a hub and resource for XR content creation and digital engineering talent.
With this transfer, upcoming talent will be nurtured and developed by Amuse - an entertainment XR studio owned by Azimuth Holovis and the Azimuth Holovis Centre of Excellence - whose focus will be on XR content and technology for applications in industry and education.
More than RM80m (US$18.1m, €17.3m, £14.8m) will be invested to launch the project, which is projected to generate US$1m (€958,000, £822,0000) per annum for the local workforce by 2026. Holovis is also working with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) - the government agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia entrusted to lead the nation's digital economy forward - on the scheme.
“Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region present significant opportunities in the immersive technology space across Holovis’ key sectors, specifically Experiential, Simulation, Training and Visualisation,” said Holovis CEO, Stuart Hetherington.
“Partnering with Azimuth and working with MDEC provides a catalyst for Holovis to accelerate our growth strategy in the region and support the wider collaboration between our two countries in knowledge and skills transfer, and in helping bring next-gen technologies and solutions to Malaysia, as well as our planned innovation centres of excellence, these will in turn help create significant new jobs and opportunities in each region.”
