Frontgrid has installed its ParadropVR Pod attraction at Adventure Parc Snowdonia, its first UK location.

Located in North Wales, Adventure Parc Snowdonia is a sports hub offering indoor and outdoor activities, including inland surfing, an inflatable aqua park and a garden spa. The complex is now home to the UK’s first ParadropVR Pod.

The attraction, which was launched at last year’s IAAPA Expo, is a compact, attendant-free version of the company’s ParadropVR attraction developed specifically for FECS and venues with a smaller footprint.

Capitalising on increased demand for multi-player eSports experiences, the attraction combines competitive gameplay with a VR paragliding experience, where players score points by hitting targets as they descend.

It also offers unique game content with several gaming experiences to choose from, including the Discover series. Featuring its own storyline, the Discover series sees riders adventure across the mountains, led by an inventor, to discover more about the environment. AR goggles mark out trails of rings and other items for players to collect.

Commenting on the installation, Frontgrid CEO Matt Wells, said: “After 18 months of product development, it’s very exciting to see ParadropVR Pod live on location.

“ParadropVR Pod has a different emphasis, it’s designed to be more compact, is operatorless and being multiplayer has more of a focus on gameplay.

“It’s positioned to be at the forefront of the eSports phenomenon as it evolves,” Wells added.

The news comes ahead of this year’s IAAPA Expo, where Frontgrid will be exhibiting at booth #1060.
