Disney World to open both water parks for the first time in six years

Increasing guest demand will see Disney World open both of its water parks for the summer season. This will be the first time all six Disney parks will be open at the same time since 2019

The Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, has announced plans to open both its water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach this summer.

This will be the first time that all six Disney parks will be open to the public at the same time since 2019, after Disney adopted an alternating operations model for its water parks, with only one water park being open to guests at a time.

The decision comes following an increased demand for water park access since the company began offering free water park entry on check-in dates to guests staying at resort hotels.

Blizzard Beach, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary on April 1, 2025, is already open but will close on May 1 to undergo refurbishment works before reopening on May 21. It will remain open until the end of the summer season on September 7.

Its attractions include Slush Gusher; a 90ft (27.4m) tall, 250ft (76.2m) long body slide attraction offering a top speed of 35mph and two moments of air time, and Summit Plummet; the park’s flagship water slide that stands 120ft (37m) tall and offers a high speed of 60 mph. It’s one of the tallest and fastest free-fall slides in the world.

The lineup also includes Teamboat Springs; a 1,400ft (427m) white-water raft ride, that sends riders, aboard blue rubber rafts, down a series of rushing waterfalls, and Downhill Double Dipper; a 50ft (15m) and 230ft (70m) side-by-side tube slide where riders race through twin inner tube runs.

The park, which features a winter theme, also offers a number of Frozen-themed attractions, including Anna and Elsa’s igloo and several statues of Olaf and his Snowgie friends.

Opening on May 1, Typhoon Lagoon is anchored by Mount Mayday, a man-made mountain that erupts a 50ft (15m) geyser every 30 minutes.

The park, themed like a tropical paradise, offers several major attractions including Gang Plank Falls; a family raft ride, Humunga Kowabunga; featuring three enclosed speed slide flumes that send riders down five storeys at speeds of 39mph, and Storm Slides; comprising three body slides that send riders down a series of twisting channels into a splash pool at the bottom.

It is also home to one of the world’s largest outdoor wave pools, with guests able to body surf in the waves.

Disney H2O Glow After Hours event offers guests out-of-hours access to Typhoon Lagoon after the park has closed, with ticket holders able to enjoy the park’s attractions with lower wait times, as well as a selection of complementary drinks and snacks and a DJ dance party.

Admission prices for Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon start from US$68 (€63, £53) for children aged 3 - 9 and US$74 (€68, £57)for guests aged 10 and up. Tickets for Disney H2O Glow After Hours will be priced separately and will go on sale on April 4. Various admission packages are also available.
