Christie has worked with Maxin10sity to create a projection-mapped spectacle that has seen Germany’s Karlsruhe Palace transformed into a digital masterpiece

Pandoras Box software from AV specialists Christie has been utilised at this year’s Schlosslichtspiele Festival to power the event’s projection-mapped digital art.
The event, which takes place at Karlsruhe Palace in Germany, has used Pandoras Box for every year of its existence. Now in its ninth iteration, two Pandoras Box licences, along with two Christie Widget Designers and 24 Pandoras Box outputs, were used to power projection mapping onto the 172m x 17m (564ft x 56ft) façade of the palace.
Combined with the technology of Hungarian projection mapping specialists Maxin10sity, the palace sees 80’s Flash transform the facade of the baroque palace into a digital work of art.
“We opted for Pandoras Box from the outset in 2015,” said Sven Gayer, technical director of AV Active GmbH.
“At that time, no other solution could offer the versatility and range of features that it brought to the table. Over the years, our choice has remained consistent and unchanged, primarily because we've been thoroughly satisfied with its performance. There hasn't been a single scenario or requirement that we couldn't address using Pandoras Box. Its reliability and adaptability have consistently met our needs.”
This year’s Schlosslichtspiele Festival is operating under the creative direction of the ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe with the theme of ‘Horizons of Hope. Dawn of Devices’.
