Attractions.io has announced a new partnership with Chester Zoo, with the animal attraction in the UK launching a fully-branded mobile app to enhance the visitor experience.
One of Europe’s most-visited zoos, the Attractions.io system replaces a previously-released custom-made app, with the new version offering functional improvements for guests and the in-house marketing team, including increased reliability, responsiveness, and stability.
According to Attractions.io, the previous app had struggled to cope with high demand during the peak summer season and school holidays. Switching to its own platform, the zoo’s new app can now handle the two million-plus visitors it receives each year.
Optimised for use across large sites, where WiFi and mobile signal can’t always be guaranteed, guests at Chester Zoo can access the app both on and offline to view the park map, search for the animal or attraction they want to visit and receive personal directions to the best viewing spots. The app also accounts for guests’ access requirements by highlighting wheelchair and stroller friendly routes that avoid uneven terrain.
In addition to helping visitors, the technology can also offer behavioural insights to Chester Zoo, with such data able to be leveraged from both a marketing and a management perspective.
“Having a platform that enables us to adopt a data-driven approach is an invaluable resource for our ops team,” said Dominic Strange, commercial director at Chester Zoo.
“We aspire to deliver a standout guest experience for every individual, and now we have the power to deliver on that goal, using behavioural insights to tailor the experience for each guest.
“We see this opportunity as the first step towards future-proofing our capabilities for the digital age and are excited to see the partnership progress in the future.”
