Alterface’s first Moviemax attraction makes debut in Saint-Tropez

Alterface’s Moviemax has made its debut in Saint-Tropez’s Azur Park, with the attraction’s first season hailed as an “unqualified success”

Alterface’s Moviemax has made its debut in Saint-Tropez’s Azur Park, with the attraction’s first season hailed as an “unqualified success”.

Targeting fairs and other touring attractions, Moviemax is housed inside a 40ft (12.2m) container, which can be transformed into a 90sq m (969sq ft) theatre for thirteen players at a time in just a few hours.

Conceived and designed by seasoned showman Léo Verstiggel to meet the unique requirements of travelling fairs, the attraction is themed to look like a vintage Hollywood movie theatre, with marquee signs, lights and ticket and photo booths.

Inside, a range of four films is on offer alongside motion-based seats, 3D technology and other special effects including wind, water, smoke and stroboscopes to immerse guests in the on-screen action.

“Collaborating with Alterface was a wonderful experience,” said Verstiggel. “Their interactive technology brought my vision for a vintage cinema carousel to life.

“Together, we created an attraction that honours my family’s legacy and brings highly interactive entertainment to fairs and events.”

The attraction debuted at Azur Park in late June, joining a selection of 35 attractions that sit right by the French coast.

“Compact, transportable, offering unique theming, interactive action, feature content suitable for all ages and a competitive initial price point, Moviemax sets a new standard for a unique and successful travelling attraction,” said Stéphane Battaille, CEO of Alterface.

“Our successful projects are entertaining people in new and exciting ways the world over. Equally important, attractions like Moviemax are meeting a wide range of operator needs and demands.”
