Paris’ iconic Louvre Museum has revealed its visitor numbers for 2022, with 7.8 million people flocking to the iconic institution last year.
Attendance rose sharply in 2022 compared to a Covid-hit 2021, with visitor numbers up 170% year-on-year.
“The very positive figures for 2022 are a tremendous encouragement for all our teams,” said Laurence des Cars, president and director of the Louvre Museum.
“We are going to redouble our efforts to improve the conditions for visitors and continue to offer very high-quality programming and a unique offer of live shows in response to current events at the museum.”
According to the museum, 30% of its visitors were French, with the remaining 70% coming from overseas. 45% of Louvre visitors are under 25 years of age.
