The Eiffel Tower just got 20 feet taller

Paris’ iconic Eiffel Tower is now a little bit taller after a new antenna was installed on the French landmark in an attempt to improve digital radio coverage.

The tower now stands at 330m (1,083ft) tall after the antenna was attached via helicopter, with the device able to allow TDF to broadcast nearly 30 DTT channels and 32 radio stations to 12 million people in Île-de-France. The antenna will boost broadcasts within a radius of up to 50 miles.

The Eiffel Tower reopened to visitors in July 2021 following a 9-month pandemic-related shutdown - its longest public closure since World War II.
