Storm Coaster officially named record breaker

Dubai has claimed another World Record, with the Dubai Hills Mall’s Storm Coaster being officially recognised as the world’s fasted vertical-launch rollercoaster.

A first-of-its-kind attraction, the Intamin-manufactured Storm Coaster wraps around the entire mall building, with its main feature being a vertical launch powered by magnetic LSM motors, with the rollercoaster sending riders 50m (164ft) into the air.

“When we opened The Storm Coaster, we wanted to capture people’s attention with an incredible experience the like of which had not been seen before,” said operator Emaar Entertainment Group in a statement. “Receiving a Guinness World Record is a huge endorsement of that.”
