Royal Caribbean announces permanent closure of Sky Pad attraction

Cruise line operator Royal Caribbean has announced the permanent closure of its Sky Pad attraction.

Cruise line operator Royal Caribbean has announced the permanent closure of its Sky Pad attraction.

The attraction, currently in operation on four Royal Caribbean ships, will be officially retired on March 31, 2023.

Sky Pad offers a VR bungee jump trampolining experience housed inside an iconic yellow sphere on the top deck. Guests don VR headsets and can track their progress as they jump through virtual worlds. Guests can also opt not to wear the headsets and instead take in the ocean views during their experience

The controversial attraction has faced legal action due to injuries allegedly caused while on the attraction, as well as repeated closures due to weather conditions.

According to a Royal Caribbean blog post, the sphere will be turned into a venue for a series of to-be-announced activities.
