A consultation has been launched as part of a £5m (US$6.4m, €6m) project to turn the Albion Dockyard in Bristol, UK, into a visitor attraction.

Plans to redevelop the historic dockyard are being led by the SS Great Britain Trust, which oversees the nearby SS Great Britain, with £600,000 (US$770,000, €700,000) in initial funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The trust plans to conserve the Grade II-listed dock and create a replica of the world's first transatlantic ocean liner, the SS Great Western.

Plans will go before Bristol City Council later this year, if approved the new visitor attraction could be open as early as 2027.
