The Museum of Liverpool underwent an evacuation following the discovery of a “training device” in the British museum dating back to World War II.
Eventually declared safe by a police bomb disposal unit, the museum would later reopen to the public.
“We can confirm emergency services were called to the Museum of Liverpool at the Pier Head at about 10.50am this morning after concerns were raised about a suspicious item found inside the building,” said a statement from Merseyside Police.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience whilst the incident was dealt with by our officers.
“Merseyside Police responds immediately to any incidents of concern for safety and the safety of residents and visitors in our region is paramount.”
