Largest cruise ship ever built set for maiden voyage

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas, the largest cruise ship ever built, is set to depart on its maiden voyage next week when it sets sail for a week-long cruise to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas, the largest cruise ship ever built, is set to depart on its maiden voyage next week when it sets sail for a week-long cruise to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Weighing an astonishing 236,000 gross tons, the ship holds the record for the world’s largest cruise ship, literally eclipsing its sister vessels, the Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, and Symphony of the Seas.

The ship can carry more than 9,000 people at maximum capacity, with the ship so large, it’s been divided up into eight “neighbourhoods”.

Set to depart on March 4, the seven-night cruise will depart from Port Everglades in Florida, US, with stop-offs at Labadee, San Juan, Nassau, and the CocoCay private island.

Attractions include the tallest slide at sea, an interactive kids’ play area and more.

“The Wonder of the Seas will energise cruising in a bolder and bigger way,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO of the Royal Caribbean Group.

“Adding this ship to our already best-in-class fleet elevates the company in continuing to lead the industry with new features and innovation.”
