Lake Compounce has completed the second phase of the re-tracking of its popular wooden coaster Boulder Dash, with the ride now featuring more than 1,000ft of new track as well as a new train car

Historic US theme park Lake Compounce has reopened its Boulder Dash wooden coaster following a re-tracking of the ride.
Opened in 2000 at a cost of US$6m (€5.5m, £4.7m), the ride is 4,725ft (1,440m) in length with the coaster running through the natural landscape and topography, reaching up to 60mph (97kmph) as it travels through the park’s wooded area. Taking around two-and-a-half minutes to complete, the ride’s biggest drop is 115ft (35m).
Featuring more than 1,000ft (300m) of new Titan Track, the work by Great Coasters International is the second phase of a re-tracking project, with the aim of running a smoother ride and making the coaster easier to maintain.
In addition to the new track, the ride’s train has also been transformed by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, with a new green colour as voted by park visitors.
Opened in 1846, Lake Compounce is one of the world’s oldest theme parks and is the oldest continuously operating theme park in the US. Its Wildcat wooden coaster us the 14th oldest of its kind in the world, while Boulder Dash opened in 2000 and was named the top wooden coaster in the world for five straight years.
