Plans to create a new space and aviation museum in Kinross, Scotland, have taken a major step forward after the UK government approved £1.6m (US$2m, €1.9m) in funding for the project.

Plans to create a new space and aviation museum in Kinross, Scotland, have taken a major step forward after the UK government approved £1.6m (US$2m, €1.9m) in funding for the project.
Aero Space Kinross plans to turn the ‘golf ball’, an ex-Nato spy base at Balado Bridge, into a new space and flight-themed visitor attraction.
The government funding will enable the group to purchase the building and progress planning permission.
The museum, which aims to attract visitors from across Scotland and beyond, will feature a planetarium, an interactive global and challenger centre and will include exhibitions for major space companies such as NASA, Space X and Virgin Galaxtic.
It will also feature displays on rockets, satellites, space navigation, the solar system and the history of the space race.
