Disney Destiny, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet, will embark on its maiden voyage later this year.

Setting sail from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US, in November 2025, the 144,000-tonne, 1,256-cabin ship will offer four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean, including stops at Disney’s private island destinations; Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay.

Disney Destiny will be DCL’s third Wish-class ship, joining the likes of the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, and the operator’s seventh cruise liner overall.

It forms part of a significant expansion that will see the operator’s fleet grow from six to 13 ships by 2031.

Currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the Disney Destiny will be able to accommodate 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew members once complete.

It will serve as a sister ship to the Disney Wish and will be themed around ‘heroes and villains’, drawing on Disney’s collection of larger-than-life heroes and their adversaries.

According to a DCL release, the ship “will be a celebration of the bold, charismatic and driven characters at the heart of many of the myths and legends, fairy tales and fantasies from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Disney Parks.”

A Black Panther-inspired Grand Hall will serve as the ship’s focal point, transporting guests to a world of heroes and villains as soon as they set foot on the ship. Described as a “living theatre,” the Great Hall will be equipped with 360-degree lighting effects that react to the presence of different characters.

One notable transformation centres on Loki, the God of Mischief from the Marvel Universe, who will declare himself ruler of the Disney Destiny and its occupants, in an attempt to take over the ship.

Guests will also be able to experience DCL’s flagship AquaMouse attraction. A dark ride-water slide hybrid, AquaMouse will offer ‘water soaked thrills’ as guests watch a series of animated shorts before plunging down tubes with panoramic views of the ship and seas.

Disney Destiny’s version will include an all-new storyline, with Mickey and Minnie facing off against several iconic Disney villains in a musical adventure.

Other entertainment experiences include a piano bar and catwalk attraction inspired by One Hundred and One Dalmations’ villain Cruella de Vil, as well as the Saga entertainment lounge, where Maleficent – the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil from Sleeping Beauty – will demonstrate her magical abilities.

The ship will also be home to Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, an exclusive family-dining experience designed as a complement to the themed restaurants aboard the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure.

In addition to a menu of traditional African cuisine, the restaurant offers live entertainment with performers taking guests on a musical journey through the 1994 animation’s iconic soundtrack.

Other eateries include 1923, a fine dining experience celebrating Disney’s rich animation history, and Worlds of Marvel, where guests join Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket and Groot in an on-screen adventure.

Disney Destiny will also offer three musical Broadway-style musical productions: ‘Disney Hercules’, ‘Frozen, A Musical Spectacular’ and ‘Disney Seas the Adventure.’

The ship’s entertainment offering also includes Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party; a nighttime firework spectacular, Hero Zone; a futuristic sports arena, and Disney Uncharted Adventure; a mobile-based virtual quest featuring characters from Disney and Pixar.

Two complimentary cinemas, adult-exclusive bars and restaurants, a spa, salon, and barbershop round out the ship’s offerings.
