Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has teamed up with several community organisations in the Bahamas to build a new garden at the Ranfurly Homes for Children, which is hoped will inspire the young residents to grow and eat their own produce.
Crew members from the Disney Wish worked alongside representatives from the Agricultural Development Organisation (ADO) and other community partners to build a shade house, dig beds and plant a variety of vegetables including peppers, cabbage, beetroot and basil.
The garden forms part of a community farming project that aims to support youth gardening programmes across the island.
“Over the last 25 years, Disney Cruise Line has been committed to creating lasting, positive impact in the Bahamas,” said Leslie Lopez, HR manager at DCL.
“Our support of the Community Farming Project is one of the many ways we’re providing the tools and resources to empower and inspire young people in port communities we call home.”
